The ‘Sam360 Discovery Agent’ installer includes a command line tool (s3tools.exe) to manually scan Active Directory and devices for hardware and software inventory. It is generally used for devices that are not attached to the network.

The tool…

  • Does not need to be installed. It can be run from a USB key, network share, local drive etc.
  • Does not access the internet to upload data to Sam360 servers
  • Does not modify anything on the host system except for the inventory file that it saves to the specified location

The tool saves its output in compressed data files in the current working directory (Unless another location is specified.) The data files can be automatically uploaded to Sam360 by copying them to the ‘Uploads’ folder of an active Sam360 Management Point.

s3tools.exe can be located in the ‘Sam360 Discovery Agent’ installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Sam360\Sam360 Discovery Agent\) or can be downloaded by clicking here.
